This summer is set to be like no other.
Celebrating four incredible decades of music we’ve pulled out all the stops for our 40th anniversary festival. Setting the world alight with her dazzling saxophone, local hero Jess Gillam kicks off the festivities with an eclectic mix of everything from Bach to Bowie. Meanwhile extraordinary pianist Paul Lewis takes on all five of Beethoven’s Piano Concertos across three days, the last as part of an immense finale with Northern Chamber Orchestra and a festival chorus of 100 voices for Beethoven’s earthshattering Ninth Symphony.
The summer festival also continues to be a hothouse for top string quartets, not just with the Barbican, Novo and Vertavo quartets, but with three homegrown star ensembles of the next generation. See them here first!
There really is something for everyone. Introduce your little musical explorers to the magic of music at our series of family events in Barrow, Windermere, and Grizedale. Or, take a walking tour through Kendal’s rich history — with a musical twist! With almost 40 events set in stunning locations, this Summer Festival is sure to be one to remember.
We look forward to seeing you there and celebrating with you this Summer!
