Patrons of Lake District Summer Music presents the Mithras Piano Trio.

Following two remarkable Lake District Summer Music International Festival concerts in 2018, we are delighted to welcome the Mithras Piano Trio back to the Lakes. Festival goers enjoyed two very different programmes from the Trio, in two different venues, with some audience members making the journey specially to the second concert as they had so enjoyed the first concert!

'To hear playing of this maturity from musicians so young is rare indeed.' Audience member (LDSM International Festival 2018).

The Trio consists of Ionel Manciu (violin), Leo Popplewell (cello) and Dominic Degavino (piano).

Formed of current postgraduate students at the Guildhall School of Music, the Mithras Piano Trio came together in 2017. Individually they have had international successes including at the Concours International de Piano d'Épinal, the Imola International Piano Awards, the Orpheus Musician of the Year Competition, the Brant International Piano Competition and Bromsgrove International Musicians' Competition. Dominic Degavino was also the keyboard section winner of both the Tunbridge Wells International Young Concert Artists Competition and the 2017 ROSL Music Competition. In April 2018, the Trio won 2nd prize at the First Intercollegiate Piano Trio Competition, and it performed in the inaugural Chamber Music Festival at GSMD in July.
