Patrons of Lake District Summer Music presents the Bloomsbury String Quartet.

Formed in September 2017, the Bloomsbury String Quartet have quickly made their mark. In addition to winning the 2018 Stroud Green Festival's Ensemble Scheme, they are the Wigmore Hall/Open Academy Fellowship Ensemble for the 2018/19 season, creating a series of musical experiences in educational and community outreach contexts, alongside their schedule of more conventional performances.

As soloists, the members of the Bloomsbury Quartet have won competition prizes in the Netherlands, Singapore and the UK. Individually, they are also recipients of the Marylebone Student Award, Howard Davis Scholarship, John Booth Prize, the HSBC Youth Excellence Award, and the Diana Award.

The Bloomsbury Quartet are receiving regular coaching from Levon Chilingirian (Chilingirian Quartet) and Jon Thorne (Badke Quartet).

The quartet consists of Eva de Vries, Janell Yeo, Rachel Maxey and Felicity Smith.

The programme will be announced soon but is likely to include Mozart and Britten.

A partnership was forged with Cumbria Music Hub several years ago in order to take live music into local schools (performance and workshop participation). It has been much welcomed by schools and 'FridayLive' offers an extra dimension of career experience to young performers following their formal concert for the Patrons of Lake District Summer Music. We are delighted that the Bloomsbury Quartet will be undertaking a 'FridayLive' programme for Kendal schools during their visit to Cumbria.
