The Louko Piano trio was formed in September 2015 by three young musicians from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. Since its formation, the trio has won the RNCM Hirsch Prize for outstanding performance of a work by Beethoven and also the RNCM Nossek Prize for the best performance of a piece from the Romantic period.
They are primarily coached by Jeremy Young and Qian Wu (Sitkovetsky Piano Trio) and have also received further guidance from Frans Helmerson, Kathryn Stott, Peter Frankl and Gabor Takacs-Nagy.
This year, the Louko Trio was the first prize winner of the Beethoven Piano Society of Europe Chamber Music Competition in London in which their performance was praised for being 'uniquely involving'. They have also been chosen as one of the four ensembles to participate in Music Coll 2016 this summer.
