Mozart Piano Quartet No.1 in G minor, K478 26¼’

Bray Zustände 12’

Alwyn Rhapsody 9¼’

Fauré Piano Quartet No.1 in C minor, Op.15 30¾’

The Gallic flavour of Alwyn’s 1939 Rhapsody is an appropriate preface to the work which proved a turning point in Fauré’s development as a composer: like Mozart, he contributed two great works for this combination within a few years. Ruskin would appreciate the concept behind Charlotte Bray’s work, which takes ice formations as its inspiration. The performance of Zustände is given with the support of the Schubert Ensemble Trust Commission Grant Scheme.
