Relive a bygone era. Two continents famous for their swinging sounds collide and collude: the warp of New Orleans comes together with the weft of France’s high-octane Hot Club de Jazz! Aurélien Bouly comes to us this evening from Paris, taking the mantle of Django Reinhardt. This master of the style now known as gypsy jazz is joined by the vibrant swing of two Sidney Bechet-style clarinettists, Ewan Bleach and Will Scott, underpinned by Tim Ellis on driving rhythm guitar and David Miles on double bass. Expect to hear some of the most famous tunes from the songbooks of both masters (like Petite fleur and Nuage), pieces that set the scene for the swinging sounds of the 1930s, brought back to life for this very special concert.
