"A perfect ending to a most wonderful festival... Bring this orchestra back again next year!"
Audience members 2018

We open the 2019 festival as we closed 2018, with a welcome return for NYSO and its Music Director. With flute as our featured instrument this year, Vivaldi’s popular ‘Goldfinch’ concerto and Lennox Berkeley’s 1939 Sonatina – marking the 30th anniversary of his death – are intertwined with music from 2 years earlier by Lennox’s close friend, Britten, a tribute to his teacher, Bridge. We close the evening with a 2009 reimagining of Mussorgsky’s great aural homage to Victor Hartmann’s art.
