Blackwell Arts & Crafts House, near Bowness

£16 Unreserved Seating

Dancer Adie Baako and drummer Thomas Annang share a lifetime of music and stories to transport audiences to their African childhoods near the coast in Ghana. With no electricity in their village, singing, drumming and dancing was the best way to entertain themselves. Whether intended to start a party, tell the stories of farmers and fishermen or honour ancestors, the infectious drum beats and spectacular dance moves will thrill any audience. Since coming to Northern Ireland in 2009 Thomas has performed and delivered workshops across the UK at venues too numerous to mention and festivals including WOMAD and the Edinburgh Festival. Adie first visited Scotland in 2014, since when he has worked for ABC Creative Music with hundreds of Scottish schoolchildren, taught at Dancebase and has joined Sankofa Beats, an African drum & dance group based in Edinburgh. Enjoy Akrowa’s first visit to the North West, brought to LDSM in conjunction with Live Music Now.

Present your Blackwell concert ticket at the Arts & Crafts House ticket desk after 2.30pm and get £1 off the admission price to the House.
