The string trio form is less often heard compared to its quartet rival and this year we make amends with four concerts featuring this medium – see also Wed 1st, Mon 6th and Tue 7th.

Former ISMA student Jonathan Martindale is joined by sisters Lucy and Peggy Nolan – whose Irish background inspired the Trio‘s name. Their programme ranges from Mozart‘s self-composed Prelude and arranged Bach Fugue, written for his domestic music making at the home of Baron van Swieten, to other Viennese masterworks, and music from Hungary and Czechoslovakia, all part of this year‘s theme highlighting music from states founded in 1918.
