Schubert Violin Sonatina No.3 in G minor, D408 19'

Brahms Violin Sonata No.1 in G major Regensonate, Op.78 27'

R Strauss Violin Sonata in E flat major, Op.18 28'

"…An excellent programme and performance! Both were delightfully expressive in the most complementary and meaningful way…" Audience members 2013

The musical climax of this concert is Strauss's last major chamber work, composed when he was falling in love with Pauline de Ahna, the soprano whom he would later wed. His amorous feelings can be heard throughout the piece, so how appropriate that our celebrated husband and wife duo have chosen this, alongside Brahms's Regensonate (so called as he reuses the melody of his Regenlied) and one of the teenage Schubert's Mozartian sonatas.
