Schumann Dichterliebe, Op.48

Finzi Earth and Air and Rain, Op.15

Marcus Farnsworth baritoneElizabeth Burgess piano

Schumann’s setting of Heine’s poems, in his Op.48 Dichterliebe, is one of the most enduringly popular song cycles and is at the heart of this recital. Framed by four of Schubert’s lieder and Gerald Finzi’s Thomas Hardy settings, the light and shade of man’s relationship with his surroundings and fellow man will be vividly painted by this duo, winners of the Kohn Foundation International Song Competition in 2009 at the Wigmore Hall.
