Shortly after Schumann’s “year of song” in 1840, during which he composed over 140 vocal works, a study of Beethoven quartets and the encouragement of his new wife, Clara, led to a flowering of his work in the field of chamber music. The Chilingirian Quartet have been our resident artists, respected tutors, and inspired LDSM performers over 25 years. Joined by another favourite of LDSM, American pianist Barry Snyder, this programme offers an evening of riches.
