The unique circumstances of a festival of resident artists offer rare opportunities for new collaborations and a variety of repertoire. This first LDSM Artist Ensemble concert of 2010 features the Festival début for Christiane Edinger, and reflects the Schumann bicentenary celebrations which run throughout LDSM in 2010.

Christiane Edinger

Born in Potsdam to a highly musical family, Christiane Edinger received the basic grounding for the high standard of interpretation and technique from Vittorio Brero at the Berlin Hochschule für Musik, completing her training with Joseph Fuchs at the Juilliard School of Music, and with Nathan Milstein. read more

Yuko Inoue

Winner of the 17th Budapest International Viola Competition, Yuko Inoue has performed as soloist throughout Europe and Japan with many orchestras, including the Hungarian State Philharmonic Orchestra, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, the Hallé Orchestra and the Netherlands Chamber Orchestra and with such eminent musicians as Gidon Kremer, Sir Charles Groves, György Pauk, Jean-Jacques Kantorow, He read more

Garfield Jackson

Garfield Jackson was born in London into a family of jazz trumpet players with a wide-ranging appreciation of music. He began violin studies at the age of seven with Beryl Morreau, a viola student of Lionel Tertis and a founder member of the McNaghten String Quartet. read more

Emma Ferrand

Winner of the NFMS Young Concert Artist Award, Emma Ferrand came to notice playing the Elgar concerto in Paul Tortelier's BBC2 masterclass series. She travels widely as a soloist, recitalist and chamber musician and broadcasts frequently. She has appeared at Wigmore Hall, the South Bank, and in many festivals. read more

Carole Presland

Carole Presland studied with Renna Kellaway on the Joint Course at the RNCM and the University of Manchester. Postgraduate scholarships enabled her to work with Andras Schiff at the IMS Prussia Cove and with György Sebőkat masterclasses in Amsterdam. Carole has performed throughout Europe, the Far East and the USA and at festivals such as Aldeburgh, Bath and Harrogate. read more

Richard Deakin

Richard has performed extensively throughout Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Scandinavia and the USA. For ten years he was concertmaster and founder member of the Orchestra of St John's, London. read more
