The Duruflé Trio was formed in January 2015 at the Guildhall School of Music, where it was the winner of the Ivan Sutton Chamber Music Prize in 2016 and joint winner of the St James Piccadilly Prize in 2015. It has performed in a range of UK venues, including Milton Court, Kettle’s Yard, Sherborne Abbey and Edmundsbury Cathedral. The Trio benefits from regular coaching with Matthew Jones and Carole Presland, and has also received coaching from Philippa Davies, Joy Farrall, Daniel Tong, Julian Milford, Andrew Watkinson, Levon Chilingirian, David Waterman, Helen Simons and Alistair Tait.
The Trio has been delighted to receive works written specially for them from composers , including Tom Armstrong, Janet Oates, Robert Percy, Colin Riley, James Woodhall, Paul Burnell and Barry Mills. Works by Rhiannon Randle, Janet Oates and Colin Riley are to follow later in 2017. It was also recently honoured to work with Elena Firsova and Hugh Wood.
In November 2015 the Trio was selected for intensive coaching on educational interactive workshops with educational performance with the Decoda Ensemble (New York), and has since been invited to give a range of workshops and assemblies in London and Dorset. It is enjoying being an ensemble for the Wigmore Hall’s ‘Chamber Tots’ events for the 2016-17 season.
