Under its founder and director, Rory McCleery, the Gramophone Award-nominated Marian Consort has given concerts throughout the UK and Europe and features regularly on Radio 3. It made its North American début in October 2018. Its repertoire encompasses the music of the 15th to 18th centuries with a particular focus on the exploration of lesser-known works. It is also a proud exponent of contemporary music, and has commissioned pieces from leading British composers, juxtaposing these with the music of the Renaissance in concert and recording in order to shed new light on both eras. The Consort is committed to inspiring a love of singing in others, and has led participatory educational workshops for a wide range of ages and abilities. The latest of the Consort's ten CDs, ‘In Sorrow’s Footsteps’, released in July 2018 in celebration of the group’s 10th anniversary, features the première recording of a new setting of the Stabat mater by Gabriel Jackson. The Marian Consort previously performed at Lake District Summer Music in 2016.
