Trio Anima was formed in 2006 at the Guildhall School, where it was awarded a chamber music fellowship in 2011. The trio won the Elias Fawcett Award for outstanding chamber ensemble at the 2012 Royal Over-Seas League Competition and it has toured with Live Music Now and the Countess of Munster Recital Scheme. In 2017 it was selected by the Kirckman Concert Society through which it appears at St John's Smith Square in June. Trio Anima has a strong commitment to expanding the repertoire for the ensemble, premiering works by composers such as Francisco Coll and Sasha Siem. Its interest in contemporary music was reflected in a recital at St Martin-in-the-Fields for its New Music Series, and performances at the Royal Opera House as part of the 'Operashots' series. It performed Gubaidulina's Garten Von Freuden Und Traurigkeiten in the BBC Composers Festival.
