Founded in 1997, the Carducci Quartet has won numerous international competitions, including the Concert Artists Guild in New York and First Prize at Finland’s Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition. In 2016 it received a RPS Award for its Shostakovich15 project, a cycle of Shostakovich’s quartets performed across the UK, North and South America. It has appeared at venues across the globe including the Wigmore Hall, Dublin, Copenhagen, New York, Washington, Toronto and Amsterdam. Festival residencies include Cheltenham, Ryedale, Lichfield, Presteigne, Kilkenny and West Cork. 2018 saw the quartet perform complete cycles of the Bartók quartets in Gloucestershire, Oxford and at Kings Place and it toured to Canada, Italy, France, Spain & Germany. Recent and forthcoming chamber collaborations include pianists Martin Roscoe and Janina Fialkowska, guitarist Craig Ogden, oboist Nicholas Daniel, clarinettists Julian Bliss, Emma Johnson and Michael Collins and cellists Benedict Kloeckner and Guy Johnston. Celebrated for its interpretation of contemporary repertoire, premières include works by Simon Rowland-Jones, Gavin Higgins, Karl Jenkins, Jonny Greenwood and Kate Whitley. In 2015 it curated projects around Glass and Reich as part of the RPS Award-winning ‘Minimalism Unwrapped’ at Kings Place.
