Richard Deakin Violin

Richard has performed extensively throughout Great Britain, France, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, Scandinavia and the USA. For ten years he was concertmaster and founder member of the Orchestra of St John's, London. He has given recitals in the Purcell Room and Wigmore Hall, London, recorded many performances for BBC Radio 3 and has appeared in festivals such as Edinburgh, Manchester, Bath, Three Choirs, Haslemere and the BBC Proms. He performs a wide range of chamber music, and also appears as a director/soloist with orchestras in Britain. He is a violin professor at the Royal Academy of Music, and his association as guest concertmaster with a Japanese chamber orchestra (Orchestra Ensemble Kanazawa) has led to regular visits to Japan including chamber concerts and masterclasses, as well as being a visiting professor at Tokyo Geidai Music Conservatoire. He is a member of a Piano Trio and Horn Trio and has recorded for ASV and Meridian.
