The withdrawal of Arts Council England's annual funding to Lake District Summer Music was announced on 30 March.
From Levon Chilingirian, leader Chilingirian Quartet - "I am shocked at the withdrawal of Arts Council England's funding grant to Lake District Summer Music. For 27 years LDSM has provided inspirational teaching and performances by great international masters, and any curtailment of its activities would deal a serious blow to the musical life of our country."
