LDSM looks to deliver on new partnership with local opticians
Friday, 2 July 2010

Lake District Summer Music is working closely with S., C., & T. Bagot Optometrists this summer to bring one of the UK's most talented young piano trios to Grange as part of the Lake District Summer Music International Festival.
The Gagliano Trio will be playing at the Victoria Hall in Grange-over-Sands at 8pm on Thursday 12 August performing trios by Mozart, Schumann and Schubert. Both alumni of LDSM's International Summer Music Academy which runs alongside the Festival, pianist Alexis White and violinist Jiafeng Chen have had a successful prizewinning duo partnership for several years. In Autumn 2009 they invited cellist Anna Melita Beryle to join them, and the resulting chamber ensemble has quickly established itself on the concert circuit with invitations to a number of prestigious concert series and festivals.
Their concert is one of four events being sponsored by S., C., & T. Bagot Optometrists in this year's LDSM International Festival. Tickets for the concert are £15 and can be purchased from their store in Grange. However, in addition to the sponsorship, purchase any complete pair of spectacles or sunglasses and Bagot Opticians will refund the price of your ticket.
Lake District Summer Music Senior Executive Officer, Andrew Lucas, says "We are really thrilled to be working with S., C., & T. Bagot Optometrists again this year. LDSM has recently been heralded in the national press as one of the world's 'top ten festive festivals'. Only with the generous support of companies such as Bagot Opticians can we bring the highest quality of musicians to the area. Thanks to their support, and with the special deal being offered in their stores, audiences will have a great opportunity to see and hear some of the world's most beautiful music in great clarity."
The 2010 International Festival runs from 30 July to 15 August It features, amongst others, The King Singers, a rare opportunity to hear the Beethoven Diabelli Variations played by Andreas Staier on an instrument from Beethoven's own period, Gregor Horsch, principal cellist of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, Raphael Wallfisch, Leon McCawley, the Chilingirian and Škampa quartets, amongst many other international musicians and ensembles.

Notes for editors:
LDSM is far more than "a Festival". Over 25 years, Lake District Summer Music has pioneered an inspiring mix of International Festival performances alongside Academy training for emerging young professionals. Last year ISMA welcomed 92 students from over 20 countries. Lake District Summer Music has helped launch the careers of some of the world's most successful instrumentalists and chamber musicians. Nicolas Benedetti, Nikolaj Znaider, Steven Osborne, Carole Presland, the Belcea and Heath quartets are just a small handful of musicians now at the top of the profession who have attended LDSM over the years.
As well as appearing in the festival, Alexis White is also part of the faculty of LDSM's International Summer Music Academy,
